How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

It costs £10 per month to sponsor a child through African Village Dream – then maybe include a broad view of what that covers.

How long will my sponsorship last?

There is no set sponsorship period but we hope that your relationship with us and the child you sponsor will continue for a number of years. As a sponsor you will see a child through their formative years and help them grow. This means making a long-term commitment to a child and their community. There maybe occasions when sponsorships can end earlier than expected. If this happens we ask our sponsors if they would like to continue sponsoring another child.

Why can’t I choose the age and gender of a child I sponsor?

At African Village Dream we have decided on a unique approach by empowering young minds to choose their own sponsor.

What happens if I need to cancel my support?

You can cancel your sponsorship at any time, for any reason, without causing any harm to your sponsored child. Because of our approach your child and their family will continue to benefit from our investment.

What is child sponsorship?

Child sponsorship is an effective way of giving that sets up a relationship between a donor and a beneficiary child and community. It is a fundraising method that allows us to support a whole community including sponsored children.

Can I directly contact the child I sponsor?

We do not facilitate direct contact between sponsors and children or their families. This is to safeguard the wellbeing of the child and avoid putting pressure on families or sponsors through unsolicited requests or “begging letters.” All communication will come through African Village Dream as part of our structured program. When a child turns 18, this approach may be reviewed depending on circumstances and safeguards in place.

How often will I hear from my sponsored child?

Once you have been chosen by your sponsored child you will receive your ‘Hello, It’s Me’ Pack. This is where you will find out who has chosen you with an introduction and a special creation from them.

You will receive seasonal updates through ‘The Kerr Layen Sun’ newsletter with a personal message from the head teacher and an update on the school and all the children.

Annually you will be able to see how your sponsored child is growing, with an updated photo, a school report and a special creation just for you.
