With Santa just days away, it feels like the perfect time to kick off this month’s news.
The village recently held its own Christmas party, filled with dancing, games, and plenty of food.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful event - our school children had an amazing time.
With the wreath-making events now complete and raffle prizes drawn, I am incredibly proud to say that these events, hosted and organised by Holly and Teresa, were an outstanding success.
Together they raised an incredible £4,000.
Thank you to everyone who supported these wonderful events.
Because of this generosity, we are now able to invest in a brand-new classroom and fully furnish two existing classrooms.
How incredible are our village supporters?
The cost of feeding the schoolchildren is around £600 per month.
Looking ahead to next year, we created a plan to help the school become more self-sufficient.
This includes a chicken farm, two hectares of rice fields, and a school garden to grow fresh vegetables.
The entire project cost £2,500 - and within just one week, our supporters donated the full amount.
One exceptionally kind soul even met me after the wreath-making event and pledged £1,250.
This project will make a huge difference in helping the village move closer to self-sufficiency and will support our goal of getting more children into school.
We are all getting very excited for our visit to the village in January 2026.
I simply cannot wait to see everyone’s faces as we arrive.
During this visit, we will be opening Classroom Number 4 and laying the foundations for Classroom Number 5 - how incredible is that?
We also have lots of fact-finding to do, as we want to learn more about the hopes and dreams of the young people.
One especially meaningful moment will be witnessing water flowing for the first time at the lower part of the village, saving countless back-breaking trips to collect water.
