January Trip
At the beginning of January, a group of 11 visitors travelled to Kerr Layen in The Gambia to experience village life and see firsthand the achievements of the charity’s work within the community.
The visitors received a very warm welcome from the villagers, with celebrations taking place throughout their stay. During the visit, the group witnessed the digging of trenches for the new water pipeline project and spent time actively involved in activities at the school.
New eco-friendly cooking stoves were delivered for the school dinner ladies, helping to improve cooking conditions and reduce fuel use. Claire also had the opportunity to observe the Hold a Hand programme in action and register new students for support.
The visit gave the group a deeper understanding of life in the village, inspired new ideas for future projects, and strengthened the partnership between the charity and the local community.
